DEQ seeks comment on mine contamination

BOISE — The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality is seeking public comment on a draft plan to address soil contamination at the former Silver King Mine in Blaine County. The property, west of Smiley Creek, is contaminated with metals from historic mining activities.

DEQ’s Voluntary Cleanup Program works with eligible individuals, associations, local, state, and federal governments, and public and private corporations to revitalize properties with hazardous substance or petroleum contamination.
